Brand Boycott on Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)

Hatred Towards Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) for Not Willing to Offer Help to People in Need

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) on 18th Nov made a Facebook post on current political activities in Hong Kong, mentioning that, in terms of medical support, “resources and capacity to help is significant”. Netizens were frustrated and felt being let down, as MSF was accused to be detached towards social movement in Hong Kong. Later, Facebook page 有種責任叫堅持 made a post about MSF making ways to stop people from terminating donation. The image then went viral, as a result of brand boycott.

Remarks: Followed by the incident, MSF in the end sent a medical team into PolyU campus, where protesters holed up for civil movement, claiming to be “investigating situation on medical supports”. The video from Stand News recorded 2.3K reactions, 1.6K of which were angry reactions. Netizens also commented with negative depiction towards MSF.
